Olin Business School, New Building
Washington University in St. Louis
St. Louis, MissouriWashington University’s Olin Business School needed a major expansion of their facilities to stay competitive with their peers, and engaged Goody Clancy to program and design the project. The architecture of the Washington University campus is Collegiate Gothic, and we have conceived of the new building in this vocabulary, enhanced by more contemporary features to express the forward-looking nature of the Olin Business School program.
Relevant Project Information:
- The interior centers around a multi-story skylit atrium, enlivened by a café, business support and the Weston Career Center and other public functions designed to strengthen links with the St. Louis business community.
- Ten new classrooms, more than two-dozen breakout rooms and several specialized teaching spaces such as a Trading Room, comprise the core of the academic program.
- In addition to the Dean's Office, the program includes Undergraduate and MBA Program Offices, and other administrative spaces.
- As part of the renovation, the design proposes excavating an existing, under-utilized outdoor courtyard downward in order to extend daylight into dark areas of the basement level.
