Charleston, South CarolinaThe Drug Discovery Building and Bioengineering Building comprise a new 210,000 square-foot complex, providing research and teaching facilities serving multiple departments. The new buildings will be linked at two levels and will function as a unified building ensemble for research in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, tissue regeneration, bioengineering and cancer research.
Relevant Project Information:
- Specialized spaces will include an animal imaging center (CT, PET, MRI, optical imaging), an NMR suite for three 800-MHz magnets, a 300-seat auditorium and a pharmacy teaching laboratory.
- Program includes a major Conference Center, comprising a 150-seat auditorium, a 75-seat classroom and other conference spaces, plus open areas for poster sessions and social events.
- The new buildings will house 36 Principal Investigators in flexible research labs and lab support areas, a Microfabrication shop, and office suites for the South Carolina Bioengineering Alliance and the MUSC College of Graduate Studies.
- Our design efforts have included the master planning of the overall site to accommodate two additional future research buildings.
