AKU Recieves Planning Award
KARACHI, July 12 (APP): The Aga Khan University (AKU) has been presented with an international award for an innovative land use plan for a university village for its new Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) in Pakistan.An announcement here on Monday said that the Merit Award for Excellence in Planning for District or Campus Component was given by the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) to AKU and Goody Clancy, the planning consultants, during a ceremony at its annual conference in Minneapolis, USA. Our plan for the Clifton Corridor in Atlanta has received a 2010 Charter Award from CNU
The heading above links to CNU’s description of the urban design guidelines we prepared for the Clifton Community Partnership, sponsored by Emory University. Designed to improve quality of life in the neighborhoods around Emory, the smart-growth guidelines encourage walkable, mixed-use new development and infill projects while strengthening protection of distinctive natural areas and historic, Olmsted-designed neighborhoods. Dublin considers downtown face-lift
Transforming about 10 million square feet of the corridor into multilevel housing, office spaces and retail businesses would take about 20 years and $3 billion to $5 billion worth of public and private investment, said David Dixon, principal-in-charge of planning and urban design at Goody Clancy and Associates. Preliminary results of the Bridge Street Corridor Study revealed
Out of the research, Dixon said five guiding principles were created: enhance economic vitality; make the center the heart of the Dublin community; embrace Dublin's natural setting and commitment to sustainability; expand livability choices for Dublin; and create a sense of place that expresses Dublin's commitment to community.
