David Dixon FAIA Co-authors “Urban Design for an Urban Century”
Goody Clancy Principal David Dixon, FAIA, Lance Jay Brown, FAIA, and the late Oliver Gillham, AIA, have authored Urban Design for an Urban Century, recently published by John Wiley & Sons. The authors hope it will encourage a wide range of readers to think about urban design in new ways and to understand the discipline’s power as a tool for adapting and enhancing America’s communities to benefit from increasingly rapid economic, environmental, social, and cultural changes. Wentworth and Bryant Select Goody Clancy for Campus Planning
Wentworth Institute of Technology (Boston, MA) has selected Goody Clancy, in collaboration with Perkins+Will, to bring their complementary expertise in the planning, programming, and design of campuses to create a new comprehensive campus master plan for the Institute. Goody Clancy will lead the planning and urban design process, a key driver that will inform the direction of the comprehensive master plan and the future growth of the campus in the city.
Mass APA Honors Wellesley Comprehensive Plan
The 2007-2017 Wellesley Comprehensive Plan has been awarded the 2007 Outstanding Planning Award for Comprehensive Planning by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association. Work on the plan was led by Larissa Brown PhD, AICP, Chief Planner for Goody Clancy.
Three Goody Clancy Projects Win 2007 APA Chapter Awards
The Florida, Georgia and Upstate New York chapters of the American Planning Association recognized three Goody Clancy planning and urban design projects in their 2007 awards programs:
New Orleans Planning Work Wins IDA Award
Goody Clancy’s planning work for District 1 (including downtown and the French Quarter), received a Merit Award in Planning from the International Downtown Association as part of that organization’s 2007 Downtown Achievement Awards program.
David Dixon FAIA Honored with AIA Thomas Jefferson Award
David Dixon FAIA, principal-in-charge of planning and urban design for Goody Clancy, has been selected by the American Institute of Architects to receive the 2007 Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture. The Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture recognizes achievements in the following three categories: private-sector architects who have established a portfolio of accomplishment in the design of architecturally distinguished public facilities, public-service architects who manage or produce quality design within their agencies, and public officials or other individuals who by their role of advocacy have furthered the public’s awareness and/or appreciation of design excellence.
Three Goody Clancy projects recognized by 2006 MA APA awards
The Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association recognized three Goody Clancy transit-oriented development planning projects at its 2006 awards luncheon held on December 15. Outstanding Planning awards were given to plans for Cambridge’s last large commercial area with significant development potential (the Concord-Alewife Plan), and for a smart growth plan combining transit-oriented development and downtown revitalization in Attleboro (Advancing Downtown Attleboro). Honorable mention was bestowed on Goody Clancy’s work with four CDCs to shape a vision for new transit-served urban villages within the heart of metropolitan Boston (Boston’s Newest Smart Growth Corridor), a project previously honored by both national and local chapter awards from the Congress for the New Urbanism.
